Unlike the previous titles in the series, the game comes with a compelling storyline focuses on the Battle City Story arc. In the game, the player takes on the role of Yugi Moto’s friend who must struggle to compete against opponents in Battle City Tournament. The game introduces different rules than the real card game. The plot of the game starts with the player and his two fellows named Joey Wheeler and Yugi Moto, who are getting ready for the massive battle in a tournament of the card game popular by the name of Duel Monster. To win the tournament, the player needs to obtain six Locator Cards which are received after taking down certain characters. After collecting all the cards, the player gets access into the finals.
