Ys Origin focuses on Action and Role-playing gameplay elements developed by Nihon Falcom and published by Xeed Falcom. The game serves as the prequel to the eight previous titles of the Ys game series. It is set 700 years before the events of Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished, and it revolves around most of the backstory of Ys, the twin queens, the black pearl, darm tower, and more. There are three playable characters available such as Hugo Fact, Yunico Tovah, and the Claw. By accomplishing the game with each of the characters, the player can discover more dimensions to the storyline. Each character has a unique storyline, skillset, and battle style.
