Like its predecessors, the game is a pure wrestling video game and for the first time since the title WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It, eight wrestlers can compete against each other simultaneously, instead of six. In the game, the Royal Rumble Match has been retooled, with improved mechanics and elimination sequences. The game introduces a new carry system, letting the player to pick up and drop his competitor and place him in the specific spot. Tons of new moves and animations have been introduced in the game to use. Road to Glory is a new mode in the game, which enables the player to use his MyPlayer character to qualify and compete in several events, similar to WWE SuperCard.
