What Never Was
What Never Was is an Adventure, Puzzle, First-person Perspective, and Single-player video game with Atmospheric, Mystery, and Walking Simulator elements. The game was developed and published by Acke Hallgren, and available to play on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. It takes place in the late 20s, where an old but kind man named Howard James Wright, perishes. Leaving behind many adventures, valuable relics, he is also leaving his granddaughter named Sara behind. The game puts the player in the role of the female protagonist, who upon navigating come to know that not everything about her grandpa attic is what it seems. It lets the player experience the unique gameplay with the mix of First-person perspective game heavily focused on exploration and puzzle-solving. There are many tasks that the player needs to complete by clearing out her grandpa attic. It offers the story-driven gameplay and increasing the difficulty level as the player approaches to high levels.

The game tries to portray the realistic gun mechanics through the use of unique reloading system, where the reloading’s each step is assigned a different button. In the game, the player scavenges audio tapes and items which uncover the storyline in the randomly generated environment. In the game, the player as the protagonist must search for eleven audio taps scattered around the randomly generated land. Flashlights and ammunition are scattered throughout the game environment to collect as well. The player starts the game with a handgun, either a Colt M1911A1 pistol, a Smith and Wesson Model 10 Revolver, or a Fire Glock 17 Pistol. The player has a random inventory of spare magazines and ammunition for his weapon, and the game starts with the player searching for audio tapes using the flashlight. The player will encounter sentry turrets and hover drones while navigating the environment that will attack the player to kill. With immersive gameplay, superb mechanics, and stunning graphics, Receiver is the best game to play.
