The game takes place in the 19th century and set in Japan, where the player assumes the role of the protagonist, a ronin who wanders into the village and struggle to involve in the battle between rival clans. The notable feature of the game is branching storyline, enabling the player decisions to modify the story’s course radically. The game starts with the player, assuming the role of the ronin named Kenji, reaching in the fictional outpost known as Rokkotsu Pass. Three different factions are competing against each other for the control of the remote village each faction has its own agenda. Aside from the direct involvement of the player in selecting the story, the gameplay heavily revolves around combat. Battling is done with different samurai swords. There are 40 different kinds of swords available. However, the player starts the game with the access to only one sword.
