Volgarr the Viking is an Action, Platform, Side-scroll and Single-player video game available to play on multiple platforms, developed by Crazy Viking Studios and published by Adult Swim Games. The game represents the fantastic gameplay inspired by side-scroll platform games from the 1980s like Ghost ‘n Goblins and Rastan. In the game, the player takes on the role of the titular character, who is selected for a challenging quest to take down an evil dragon. The titular character is equipped with a sword, a wooden shield and a spear at the beginning of the game. The player can use the spear to create temporary platforms, upon hitting enemies at range. There are lots of treasure chests available located throughout the stages, offering power-ups, and more. The player explores the land from a side-scroll perspective, battle enemies, kill them to earn points and can use these points to unlock additional stuff. The game has more than forty unique traps and enemies available, including bosses. It mainly focuses on turn-based tactics, using the card-based system and lets the player control the actions and movements of the protagonist. In the start of the game, the player needs to customize his deck, and jump into the battlefield against other players or AI to show off his abilities. The cards in the game represents various elements such as weapons, equipment, and characters. When the game started, the player needs to one of six different cards to attack opponent. In Action mode, the player needs to select the cards and use them to move the character. Most of the cards enable the player to move the character three spaces while certain cards allows the player to move up to six spaces.
