The story revolves around a boy, the protagonist, who befriends with a massive half-bird-half-mammal creature named as Trico. The game mixes the third-person, puzzle, and action-adventure elements like its predecessors Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. During the gameplay, the player assumes the role of the unnamed protagonist with a task to cooperate with Trico to solve complex puzzles and explore the massive areas. The player can carry different objects, climb on structures, run and jump his way through a variety of levels to fulfill the objectives. The size of Trico enables the player to reach the areas that the boy can’t reach alone, and can battle guards who are trying to capture the protagonist.
