The game acts as the 4th title in the series of The King of Fighters and revolves around the same format like the previous games, but offers two distinct playing styles which lets the player to choose before creating his team from Extra and Advanced. The extra mode of the game based on the first two titles such as KOF ’94 and KOF ’95. Like these games, the player must struggle to fill the power gauge by charging it or defeat the opponents and defend their attack in one-on-one matches. Advanced mode of the game focused on the previous title in the series, KOF ’96, but it comes with a revamped Power Gauge.
