Throughout the gameplay, the player takes on the role of a protagonist named Kazuo Yashiki, who has to examine different areas to complete a chapter. Each chapter requires the player to eliminate a spirit and make progress.
The player has a default scar called the Mark, which allows him to contact ghosts and will lead to a perfect end. While going up against NPCs, the player sees the surroundings from a first-person viewpoint. The player can interact with any NPC who seems to be suspicious. The game has a series of levels where the player’s strategy will matter.
If the player finds the required clue, the chapter completes, but if he fails, the spirit will come to kill the player. The player must be careful in collecting all the clues and information to make his life continue and advances through the game.

The main task of the player is to help Lily in finding her home.
