Sky Break takes place in an open world environment, letting the player assumes the role of the protagonist while experiencing the adventure and survival gameplay. The story of the game is awesome, in which humanity is invaded by a deadly virus, which is rapidly spreading across the environment. Zin invasion never happens and the gangs never show up on the surface of the earth, only Third Street Saints rules as a unanimous power and the boss still becomes the president of United States.

According to the storyline, a fictional interstellar corporation, known as Neo-Venus Construction plans to create E.D.N. III in the brutal ice age. The game is played from a third-person perspective, and the player is able to switch between first-person and third-person perspective at any time during the gameplay. The player explores the environment either on foot or by mechanized suits, called VSs (Vital Suits). The mechanized suit is equipped with heavy weapons such as rocket launcher and chain guns. Multiplayer mode of the game needs players to keep an eye on their thermal energy level to keep progressing through the game.
