The game serves as one-player simulation, revolving around naval combat, in which the player controls an individual ship. The opening cutscenes are similar to its predecessor, and the game uses the same type of warships and technologies allotted in Warship Gunner. It differs from both title, by featuring a top-down perspective of playing, instead of a third-person viewpoint. In the game, the player is also allotted escort vessels to help him in missions. The player can re-arrange his escorts to different formations to enable better use of abilities. The game still allows the player for customization of his flagship. Weapon systems are the same, but the effectiveness and power of these weapons are different from other games of the series. The player starts the game with a destroyer and the small force of Escorts. After the first mission, the player selects what mission he or she does. The player earns money for different tasks done during a mission beyond completing the objectives.
