Shootout is a Single-player and Two-player Shooting video game created and published by Data East. The game offers arcade-style gameplay and lets the player assume the role of the protagonist who needs to manipulate the environment and save the world from being destroyed. The struggle of the player starts in the practice room, after learning unique moves, the official gameplay will start to contain seven stages. The player explores the world from a side-scroll perspective with a task to take down enemies while earning points. The ultimate objective of the player shoots the certain number of criminals and struggle to avoid shooting civilians. The player will lose a life if an enemy hits the player or shoot a civilian.
