Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis
Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis (also known as Sherlock Holmes: Versus Arsene Lupin) is an Adventure, Point-and-Click, and Single-player video game created by Forgwares and published by Focus Home Interactive for Microsoft Windows. The game is the 4th installment in the marvellous series of Sherlock Holmes and comes with new content, several modifications, and more. Upon returning to the gameplay of The Awakened and the first-person interface, it revolves around Holmes and Watson as the main character Holmes is forced by the legendary man thief Arsene Lupin, who invades to steal the most prized treasure of England. It acts as the first title to be featured a cat-and-mouse style story, a structure which would be retained for the video game Sherlock Holmes: Versus Jack the Ripper. It is an adventure game and played from a first-person viewpoint. Holmes is the main character of the player in most of the gameplay, though some sections introduce Watson as a playable character as well as Inspector Lestrade. Most of the sections in which the game is set focused on popular London landmarks, including the British Museum and National Gallery.
#1 Echo Night: Beyond
Echo Night: Beyond is a Horror-Survival, Adventure, Stealth, Simulation, and Single-player video game developed by From Software. Throughout the game, the player is in the role of an unnamed protagonist who gets trapped in a mansion full of ghosts. The player has to escape and must maintain the heart rate before it reaches a specific level.
While inspecting the mansion, the player views the environment from the first-person perspective. If the player comes in contact with any of the ghosts, the heart rate gets down, and finally, it’s the end of the character. The game offers no means of defending against ghosts; the player has to avoid them, not attack them.
The player’s spacesuit has a flashlight, but he must charge it with the help of batteries. The player can defeat the ghosts only by clearing the mist they inhabit. The ghosts have installed security cameras throughout the station, which helps them identify the player’s location.
#2 Kuon
Kuon is a Horror-Survival, Adventure, Stealth, Simulation, and Single-player video game developed by From Software. Throughout the game, the player takes on the role of a female protagonist, where the primary goal is to survive in the mansion of Kyoto. While inspecting the mansion, the player views the environment from the third-person perspective.
The game offers the player to use meditation for restoring lost health and use herbal medicines as well as holy water. The player’s character can move faster by running, but this drains the character’s health and let any nearby enemy attack to get the main character down.
Two types of attacks are there, such as physical attacks and magical attacks. Physical attacks offer weapons for invasions, such as a knife, a fan, or a spear. The magic attack has two further types, attack and summon, and both of them require magic cards. Attack spells include various fire, and ice-based spells, whereas summon spells can perform a variety of tasks.
#3 Forbidden Siren
Forbidden Siren is a Horror-Survival, Adventure, Stealth, Simulation, and Single-player video game developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Throughout the game, the player experiences a cast of characters that possess an ability to see and hear the nearby creatures around the character.
The game has two stages, where each stage takes place in one of ten areas of the village of Hanuda. To complete a stage, the player must complete a primary objective that involves reaching an exit point. The clarity of each target depends on the distance from the player. Once the player locates a point, he can push certain buttons to switch between multiple points of view.
The player character cannot move during usage of any ability and is thus endangered to attack. The game focuses on avoiding Shibito rather than fight so the player must walk silently, avoid the use of a flashlight, and crouch behind objects. Certain mission objectives require the player character to use items to achieve a goal.
#4 Forbidden Siren 2
Forbidden Siren 2 is a Horror-Survival, Adventure, Stealth, Simulation, and Single-player video game developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is the sequel to the Forbidden Siren and offers the player to follow the storyline as in the previous one. Throughout the game, the player gets control over a character where the main mission is to survive alive from the dark.
The player becomes trapped on Yamijima Island, off the coast of Japan, and the entire population of the island disappeared without a trace. The key objective of the protagonist is to survive the island’s monsters and discover its mystery. The game has many scenarios, and the player needs to complete a scenario to reach an exit point of the next one.
The interesting feature of the game is the character’s ability to see and hear the nearby shibito, yamibito, humans, and other creatures. The process works similarly to radiofrequency, where the clarity of each enemy depends on the distance from the player.
