Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a Third-person Perspective, Action-Adventure, and Single-player video game developed by Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix. The game starts its narrative from the video game Tomb Raider, released in 2013, serving as the 12th main installment in the series of Tomb Raider. The game takes place after the events of the previous title, revolving around the main female protagonist named Lara Croft as she ventures through South America and Mesoamerica to the ancient city Paititi, fighting the military organization known as Trinity. The player assumes the role of the female protagonist with an objective to race against enemies to fend off a Mayan Apocalypse she has uncovered. During the game, the player can travel the environment and battle foes with firearms and stealth elements as he/she navigates semi-open hubs. In these hugs, the player can raid challenge tombs to unlock side missions, new rewards, and scavenge for resources, which he/she can use to craft items and equipment.
