Police Quest Collection: Step Behind the Badge
Police Quest Collection: Step Behind the Badge is a compilation of four different games with limitless adventures developed by Sierra On-Line. The included games are Police Quest: In Pursuit of the Death Angel, Police Quest 2: The Vengeance, Police Quest 3: The Kindred, and Daryl F. Gates’ Police Quest: Open Season.
Throughout the game, the player serves as a policeman where he has to fight against enemy hordes to protect the city. In the first game, the player begins as a patrol officer has to chase down the infamous Death Angel. In some sections, the player has to drive the car where traffic rules apply to the chaser.
As a promoted officer, the player has to arrest the drug lord named Jesse Bains in the second game. The graphics are better than in the original game, but the gameplay remains the same. The player can move to a place in the scene using the directional keys. The third game offers the player to investigate linear murder cases that are committed by one person, bring that person to light.
#1 The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery
The Beast Within A Gabriel Knight Mystery is a Point-and-Click, Adventure, and Single-player video game developed by Sierra On-Line. It is the sequel to the Gabriel Knights: Sins of the Fathers and takes place one year after the storyline. All through the time, the player plays like a fighter named Gabriel, where the main mission is to fight the dark forces.
Gabriel comes across Ritter Castle in Germany, where his family is currently living. One day, a squad of peasants enters the castle, and the captain tells Gabriel about the terrible death of a little girl. A supernatural wolf has killed the girl and is a big threat to other inhabitants. This investigation brings the player and his companion Grace to a hunter world with dark secrets.
Most of the game is conversation-based, where the player has to interact with the NPCs through texts. The player has to click on the icons placed on the screen to perform relevant operations. Both Gabriel and Grace are available as playable characters either alone or in co-op mode.
#2 Noctropolis
Noctropolis is an Adventure, Arcade, and Single-player video game developed by Flash Point Productions. During the game, the player assumes the role of the protagonist named Peter Grey, who is a bookstore owner and winds up in the world of his favorite comic book. In this point-and-click adventure, the player needs to collect information and help the character make progress.
One night, Peter receives a package that eventually transports him into the Noctropolis, a city of secrets. Five deadliest arch-villains decide to gang up on Peter, mysteriously released from incarceration. The player has to find out who released the criminals and must stop them from wreaking havoc across the city of Noctropolis.
The player interacts with characters and objects that appeared in each world. Manipulation of items and solutions of puzzles is not easy. The player has to overcome the obstacles to advance the story. The game has a verb-based interface that shows up on the screen if the player right-clicks on the screen. Many conversations and cut-scenes are displayed inside a smaller screen of the main console.
