The storyline of the game takes place six months after the events of the previous title, and it revolves around the main character named Samus Aran as she discovers herself in the unique environment where she confronts the space pirates. According to the plot, the space pirates have released a massive attack on the Galactic Federation Naval Base on Norion. While stopping a Space Pirate Assault, the protagonist and her companion are severely infected with Phazon by her Dark Samus.
