Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold is a Light-Gun Shooter, Interactive Movie, and Single-player video game developed by American Laser Games and published by Philips Media. In the game, the player needs to follow the storyline and is needed to shoot specific enemies to advance on the epic quest. Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold was re-released by Digital Leisure in 2003 and again in 2009 on the Nintendo Wii. According to the storyline, the player controls the main character with an objective to take down the wanted criminals, removing all gangs including their members and hostiles along his way from starting to end. The player advances through the game, by taking a preparatory shooting lesson. There are a series of levels, and the player needs to complete each to progress. The player is guided along the way once selected his/her role is to take down villains before they kill the player character. The game introduces the special cursor, which is used to specify the locations or objects the player is targeting. The player starts the game with five lives, and the storyline comprises several scenes and chapters, while each is based on different movies. It also introduces subtle hints towards the present generation of Hollywood movies, including Robotomus Crime. During the gameplay, the player can explore five unique levels, including Alien Cyborg and a Western Cowboy-style Town. Due to Light Gun Shooter elements, the game uses the PlayStation Move for killing enemies. The premise of the game is Rail Shooter.
