The game consists of five main episodes and focuses on the character of a Photography student named as Maxine Caulfield. Maxine Caulfield discovers out that she has the special ability to reverse time and any specific moment. The story takes a twist when Maxine foresees a huge Storm raging to destroy her town and that the time when she realizes that she’s the only one to prevent it from happening. Throughout the game, the player adopts the role of an unnamed protagonist, where the main objective is to stop the antagonist. The main enemy wants to make the inhabitants of the island into evil creatures using the mask ability.
The player can wear the masks of different characters like Toa Inika to take on the powers of that character. The player can switch between any collected masks as per requirement, but if they run out of health, the player will lose all the masks, including the current mask. As the player collects a mask, he can also restore health.
The players can collect Lego pieces where each piece has unique point values. As the player collects enough points, the meter fills up, and it activates a Hero Mode that allows the player to turn the character golden. The player can utilize collected points to purchase items and upgrades from the in-game Shop.
