The first title in the series was released in 2002, and the series contains up to eight installments. It mainly deals with a murder mystery, and the series unfolds the story as a sound novel, similar to Visual Novel in that the gameplay needs a relatively small player interaction as most of the game is played reading text dialogues. There are up to seven main characters available, and each appears in every scenario. Keiichi Maebara is the main protagonist, who is a young boy and recently shifted to Hinamzawa with his family and started to adapt to life in the country. The player has a natural charisma which enables him to make new buddies. As the game advances, other parts of the story will be revealed.
