It serves as the eighth main title in the series of Final Fantasy and provides the same gameplay as the previous releases. The protagonist contains a default weapon at the start of the game and can upgrade it by earning points.
The game offers three main modes, such as the world map, the field map, and the battle screen. In the world map, the player can roam freely anywhere and explore the world by using a third-person perspective, and the player can run, jump, and drive cars, trains, and airships. The field map consists of 3D characters and offers environmental views, such as towns, jungles, etc. The battle screen takes place in a street or room to battle with the AI character enemies.

Each chapter is split into different chapters, consisting of courtroom and investigation sessions. The player assumes the role of the detective, and his ultimate task is to solve mysteries and complex cases to become the master.
