Evolution: The World of Sacred Device is a 1999 Rogue-like and Role-playing video game created by Sting and published by Ubisoft. The game has a Single-player mode, and it mainly deals with dungeon crawling gameplay where the storyline revolves around the adventures of Mag Launcher. According to the plot, Mag Launcher and his companions can use Cyframes, the advanced technology found in ancient ruins. The battle in the game is non-random and appears whenever the protagonist touches the enemy. The game uses the 3D graphics and lets the player engage himself in the turn-based battle, with each combatant having its own personality. Mag Launcher, Linear Cannon, Gre Nad, Pepper Box, Chain Gun, etc. are prominent characters of the game. The plot of the game starts with two friends named as Linear and Mag, on an epic treasure hunt. When both character return home, they found a word that Prince Eugene desires to talk to them. After that, they go to encounter the Prince, who asks about the device known as Evolutia.

The objective of the game is to command the nameless character through the Neuro Tower to the 1st floor. The game takes place in the procedurally generated land, where the majority of the layouts of the floors of the tower change each time the player ventures inside. The player starts the game outside of the tower with no items or points. Before getting into the tower, the player is presented with an Angelic Rifle, the modern weapon that the player uses to take down the massive monster with a single shot. During the gameplay, the player can find swords, items, and equipment scattered across the tower at random and by taking down enemies grants the player experience points. It serves as the fourth installment in the Wild Arms series and offers the same gameplay to the previous releases. During the gameplay, the player serves as a protagonist named Jude Maverick, where the main objective is to get freedom.
The protagonist gets isolate in a large sphere where he comes to meet NPCs. Each of the NPC has a separate path and destination, but as long they remain together, they will help each other. The player can utilize different abilities, such as double jumps, accelerator ability to calculate time, and other major abilities.
The player must solve the problems and puzzles to get advance through the gameplay. The game offers a HEX battle system that includes seven hexagons on the battlefield. The uniqueness of the HEX battle system is that any attack given to any of the hexagons will affect all the characters on that hexagon.
