The game is based on the 2001 Formula 1 Season, and it is the sequel to F1 2000, released in 2000. Training mode is the main focus of the game where the player can improve his skills and is able to unlock further modes as he advances through it. The game comes with 17 official tracks, twenty-two professional drivers who participated in the F1 2000. The modes follow the quick race format where the player needs to earn points to access other tracks. Grand Prix serves as the premier mode of the game, which offers five distinct modes, including a Full Championship season with seventeen rounds that comes with Qualifying and Practice session. The player selects his one of twenty-two drivers and takes part in the race against rival drivers to compete. The game is played from a third-person perspective where the player controls the one-seated vehicle and attempt to reach the end of the track by completing all laps to become the winner. During the gameplay, the player can drift his way to overcome the challenging curve and experience the realistic environment with dynamic weather and further elements. The game features the driver and team line-ups from the 2015 F1 Season, including the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. It introduces all the drivers, circuits, and cars and it serves as the 7th title produced by the same studio. It comes with a huge number of improvements to the physics model of the game and has a new Pro Season mode that is more complex than normal gameplay because of no assist and HUD, which includes transmission, ABS, and traction. The game enables the player to experience the life of the real F1 driver and drive a car from available to race against opponents. The player can explore the circuit from either a first-person viewpoint (behind the steering) or a third-person perspective (behind the car).
