The game is based on the 2001 Formula 1 Season, and it is the sequel to F1 2000, released in 2000. Training mode is the main focus of the game where the player can improve his skills and is able to unlock further modes as he advances through it. The game comes with 17 official tracks, twenty-two professional drivers who participated in the F1 2000. The modes follow the quick race format where the player needs to earn points to access other tracks. Grand Prix serves as the premier mode of the game, which offers five distinct modes, including a Full Championship season with seventeen rounds that comes with Qualifying and Practice session. The player selects his one of twenty-two drivers and takes part in the race against rival drivers to compete. The game is played from a third-person perspective where the player controls the one-seated vehicle and attempt to reach the end of the track by completing all laps to become the winner.
