The game serves as the sequel to No More Heroes, released in 2007. The storyline of the game is told through cut-scenes, revolving around the journey of the protagonist named Travis, interspersed with scenes of a woman. Three years have been passed since the protagonist became the assassin in the UAA (the United Assassins Association). After that, the protagonist has returned to Santa destroy and battles Skelter Helter, who is looking for revenge on Travis for murdering his older brother. The combat style is similar to the previous installment, with mechanics such as deathblows returning and wrestling moves. The game features four beam katanas, which the protagonist can freely switch during the battle, each has different attributes. No More Heroes 2 offers a set of challenging levels that the player has to complete at any cost to move forward. The game increases the level of difficulty as the player progresses.
