Drakengard is an Action Role-playing and Single-player video game created by Cavia and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 2. The game acts as the first title in the series of Drakengard and introduces the blend of hack-and-slash, ground-based battle, aerial combat, and RPG elements. The plot takes place during a religious conflict between two factions such as the Empire and the Union. You can control the playable character by the name Caim, who is a prince of the Union and embark on an epic quest where he battles against the Empire. The ultimate task is to defend the sister named as Furiae throughout the bloody battle and the game forces you to make a pact with a dragon known as Angelus. During the quest, you encounters lots of NPCs, and collect information from them to advances through the plot. There are three types of modes such as Ground Missions, Free Expedition Mode, and Aerial Missions. You explores the land from a third-person perspective, battle against enemies using hack-and-slash elements and take down them to earn experience points. Drakengard includes prominent features, smooth controls, and stunning graphics.

The game serves as the 3rd installment in the series of Drakengard and the pre-sequel to the original title. It mixes the land-based hack and slash combat and aerial battles. The story follows the protagonist named as Zero, a woman who and caste spell through multiple song. The protagonist is accompanied by a dragon named Mikhail, she set out to slaughter her five brutal sisters, who rule the regions of the world. As the story progress, the player will discover the truth behind the revenge of the protagonist. The player manipulate the world from a third-person perspective and can use sword and magic to kill enemies. In land-based combat, the protagonist can perform multiple attacks on foe. The game rewards the player with XP points that he or she can use to unlock further items, weapons and accessories in the game.
