Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel is an Adventure, Point-and-Click, and Single-player video game developed by Cyan Worlds in 1989. You take on the role of the protagonist named Osmo, who is a strange creature indeed. The main objective is to navigate the galaxy using the spaceship to complete the tasks. The game takes place in the space environment contains up to seven worlds and each world is goofy compared to the last one. It is about the navigation and discovery, not challenges or winning. You start the game by jumping into an animated spaceship hovering in front of the screen. While inside the spaceship, you can trigger different events. The spaceship grants the player an ability to explore different planets. It offers 2D graphics and when the game starts you find yourself in a black and white world. Using the point-and-click interface, you can interact with the environment and objects to advance through the game.

The game tries to portray the realistic gun mechanics through the use of unique reloading system, where the reloading’s each step is assigned a different button. In the game, the player scavenges audio tapes and items which uncover the storyline in the randomly generated environment. In the game, the player as the protagonist must search for eleven audio taps scattered around the randomly generated land. Flashlights and ammunition are scattered throughout the game environment to collect as well. The player starts the game with a handgun, either a Colt M1911A1 pistol, a Smith and Wesson Model 10 Revolver, or a Fire Glock 17 Pistol. The player has a random inventory of spare magazines and ammunition for his weapon, and the game starts with the player searching for audio tapes using the flashlight. The player will encounter sentry turrets and hover drones while navigating the environment that will attack the player to kill.
