Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean is a Role-playing and Single-player video game created by Monolith Soft and published by Namco for GameCube. The game puts the player in the role of an unseen protagonist, a guardian spirit, who commands the protagonist and his party of companions in an epic adventure around a floating island focused on the kingdom in the clouds. The main mainly revolves around the concept of Magnus, magical cards that hold the essence of items discovered in the game world. It plays like a JRPG game. However, the player can’t play as the protagonist as in most JRPGs. The mechanics of the game are heavily emphasized on magical cards called Magnus, which absorb the essence of realistic objects for storage and later use to take down enemies. The dialogue tree is also featured in the game, and during the gameplay, the player can interact with NPCs to complete a set of quests for them to make points. The earned points can be used to upgrade the skill attributes in several ways to proceed. The sequel comes with different settings, new playable characters, and an improved battle system. Like previous title, the game is the follow-up mixes strategic and turn-based planning with real-time battles. In the game, the player can command one of forty commanders around three different worlds as the player struggle to remove from the playing map. Movement of the player throughout each world is similar to the board game, with different factions moving and turns a fixed number of space available to capture buildings. In the game, each commander under the control of the player leads a distinct army, from demons and wizards to insects and gladiators, with specific unit type.
