Balance offers Puzzle-Platform and Single-player gameplay created by Cyparade and published by Atari. The gameplay is similar to Marble Madness and takes place in the superb environment. The game puts the player into the role of the ball and allows the player to use mouse and keyboard to roll the ball in the maze and complete a set of courses without falling. There are a set of courses with obstacles, traps, and challenges. The player is capable of changing to rock, wood or a paper ball during the game. Each ball has its unique property and abilities. Wooden ball is stable and can be used for many levels, while rock ball is heavy and can be rolled off an edge of the level easily. Paper ball is light and has not a smooth surface, unlike rock and wood ball. The ultimate task of the player is to traverse through the maze, collect power-ups, solve puzzles, and overcome obstacles to reach the end. Balance consists of twelve different levels, and the game unlocks other levels and worlds as the player progress.
