Adventure Island is an Action-Adventure, Platform, and Single-player video game developed by Hudson Soft. All through the side-scrolling adventure, the player takes on the role of a youngster named Master Higgins, who set off on an adventure in the South Pacific. The Evil Witchdoctor has hijacked the princess of the Adventure Land, Tina.

Higgins must make his way through a series of over thirty levels, and each one offers multiple difficulties. Eight areas are there, and every area has four phases which all contain four checkpoints. When the player arrives at the fourth round of every area, he must defeat a boss toward to proceed to the next one.

The game gets finished when the player earns freedom for the young lady after crushing the eighth and last insidious ruler. The main antagonist of the game can transform his head into eight shapes, and the player has to strike at his head for a required number of times.
